Family law is governed of the Family Law Act (Cth) 1975. It covers all aspects of the family relationship for both married, same-sex and defacto couples which include
- Separation;
- Divorce;
- Decisions about the living arrangements for children and who they should and should not spend time with;
- Financial support of you or your ex-partner;
- Dividing property accrued during the relationship (including Superannuation interests).
Often it also leads to other areas including
- Child Support;
- Intervention (Restraining) Orders.
